For a Tokyo-based restaurant to make an impact in a crowded market is a tall order. Even more difficult: to get the concept of a “Gourmet Buffet” across quickly and clearly. What we convinced the client to do with their website is to show the food, and how it’s prepared, in all its glory. No little pictures of every dish that people could just point to when ordering, but big gorgeous shots. And a site design that featured full screen pictures. Since we couldn’t shut the restaurant down, I used two photographers in one long day – one shooting tabletop and the other shooting for editorial – and shot close to 200 setups. The client was ecstatic. And the customers came in droves.
